2008 Vernon Community Festival, Vernon, CT : On Saturday, June 14th, (aka Flag Day) residents from Vernon and surrounding towns came together to enjoy a variety of activities. From 1800's-style baseball games to inflatable attractions for the kids to skydivers to a landing by a Black Hawk helicopter and more, there was something to please everyone who attended. It was the goal of the Vernon Bicentennial Committee to bring back the sense of community and togetherness that was so prevalent in years past. I'd say they succeeded, judging by the many happy faces I witnessed.
